Info & Policies

GUIDELINES

Section I: Preparation & Attendance:

· Attendance*: I will attend all scheduled rehearsals, sectionals and performances. If an absence is unavoidable due to illness or emergency, my parent/guardian will notify the director in advance.

· Punctuality: I will arrive at the rehearsal/performance location at least 10-15 minutes before the official start time. This allows to assist with setting up chairs/stands if necessary, time to unpack, tune my instrument quietly, and be seated and ready to play at the designated time.

· Required Materials: I will bring my instrument; all assigned music and a sharpened pencil to every rehearsal and performance.

· Practice Commitment: I am expected to diligently practice my music at home between rehearsals.

Section II: Rehearsal and Performance Conduct:

· Respectful behavior: I will treat all fellow musicians, conductors, parent volunteers, and staff with respect and kindness. Bullying, harassment, and/or disrespect will not be tolerated.

· Focus & Listening: When the conductor or an adult speaking is on the podium or giving instructions, I will stop playing immediately, be silent, and give them my full attention.

· Posture: I will sit up appropriately, feet flat on the floor, straight back, holding my instrument high.

· No Talking: I will not talk during the rehearsals or performances, saving conversation for break times. All communication about the music should be with my section leader or the conductor at the appropriate time.

· Electronic Devices: All mobile phones and other electronic devices must be turned off and put away in my instrument case during all rehearsals and performances.

· Food & Drink: Only water bottles with secure lids are allowed in rehearsal or performance areas.

· Restroom visits: should be addressed prior to or after rehearsal unless there is an unexpected situation.

· Rehearsal Closing: Please assist with racking the chairs and stands at the conclusion of each rehearsal unless otherwise directed.

Section III: Concert attire and Representation:

· Concert Dress: I will adhere to the specified concert attire guidelines for all performances and dress rehearsals. My appearance will be neat and appropriate for the occasion with all black attire.

· Ambassador Role: I understand that I am a representative and ambassador for Musicland’s JHYO and will conduct myself in a professional manner whenever I am participating in Orchestra-related activities.

Thank you for working with us to make sure our rehearsals and performances are a success!

*Attendance

The JHYO recognizes that school sports and family activities may sometimes conflict with JHYO rehearsals and that many of our students juggle multiple important commitments.  We also recognize that unexpected illnesses and emergencies can occur.  However, all absences take a toll on the collective progress and overall success of the group, and therefore we ask you to commit to rehearsal schedule with seriousness of purpose and deep sense of commitment to the group.  Please go out of your way to avoid absences.

Please notify Michelle Quinn: prior to the date if possible or in case of a family emergency or illness notify her at 307-690-0974 via text or call.

Financial Agreement

Tuition payments are due no later than the first day of rehearsal, preferably before.  If you are in need of financial aid please see links below.

Financial Aid

It is our policy that no student be discouraged from participating due to financial hardship.  An application form for need based financial assistance is available on our website or email: michelle@musiclandjh.org. Also contact us regarding submitting a request to Boundless for help if applicable.

Medical information

None of the medical information provided to us will be knowingly communicated to anyone except in the event of a medical problem that affects your child.

If your child has Allergies, Chronic Conditions, or Prescription Medicines that you feel could effect our decisions in the event of a medical problem, please let of know.

In the case where medical attention may be necessary, JHYO staff will call 911 for assistance or transport students to a local medical facility.  Any time medical attention is sought, we will attempt to contact a parent or guardian immediately..

Should the musician or anyone in the musician's family be unwell, the student should not attend the rehearsal.
